Movies offer an escape from mundane, stressful lives, immersing viewers in the personal worlds of onscreen characters. However, this relies on actors delivering truly exceptional performances.
That isn’t always the case. While the names on this list are well-known, fame doesn’t necessarily equate to outstanding acting.
Chuck Norris

He became the subject of countless jokes in early 2005, though not for his acting skills.
Despite being a black belt and highly skilled in judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, his extensive action film career—filled with fight scenes—couldn’t hide his less-than-stellar performances.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, he holds the title of the worst actor of all time, with his films averaging a mere 18.4% rating.
Some examples are “Delta Force 2: The Colombian Connection”, “Firewalker”, and “Hero and the Terror”.
Ruby Rose
When a character is recast or replaced after just one season, it doesn’t reflect well on the original actor’s performance.
Rose may have chosen to leave Batwoman, leading to Kate Kane’s exit—or perhaps the producers saw no value in keeping her and introduced Ryan Wilder instead.
Either way, fans were left wondering, What happened to Kate Kane?
The answer likely lies in the reviews.
With a 3.4/10 rating on IMDb and just 23% audience approval on Rotten Tomatoes, the reception was far from glowing.
Rose’s thriller Vanquish fared even worse, earning a mere 5% from Rotten Tomatoes critics.

Tom Green
With titles like Freddy Got Fingered, Total Frat Movie, and Grind, expecting cinematic greatness from Tom Green is a stretch.
Even in minor roles, he has struggled to impress, and the rare times he’s cast as a lead, audiences quickly see why.
When Green took center stage in Freddy Got Fingered, the film earned a 4.6 on IMDb.
He also “won” the Golden Raspberry for Worst Actor in 2001 for the same film.
At least he took it in stride and personally accepted his Golden Razzie.

Lindsay Lohan
We all have a soft spot for Lindsay Lohan thanks to Mean Girls, but her later performances failed to live up to that early success.
In the late 2000s, she attempted a career comeback after a tumultuous personal life, but things didn’t go as planned.
While films like Georgia Rule avoided Razzie nominations, they still received poor reviews.
Then came I Know Who Killed Me, where Lohan’s performance earned her not one, but two Golden Raspberries.

Sharon Stone
Stone may have captivated audiences with a single leg-crossing moment, but beyond that, her acting skills left much to be desired.
While Basic Instinct managed to avoid harsh criticism, her career soon took a different turn.
In films like The Specialist and Intersection, she earned two Golden Raspberry Awards for Worst Actress.
A decade later, in 2004, she added a Stinker Award to her collection for Worst Supporting Actress in Catwoman.

David Hasselhoff
Baywatch made Hasselhoff a household name, but that didn’t necessarily mean he was a great actor.
He has frequently been ranked among the worst, even landing the 49th spot on IMDb’s list of worst actors.
Beyond the original Knight Rider, few of his films have managed to score over 6/10 on IMDb.
With the Sharknado franchise gaining cult status for being so bad it’s entertaining, fans couldn’t help but question Hasselhoff’s talent when he took on the role of Colonel Gilbert Shepard in Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens.

Sofia Coppola
The Godfather franchise was nearly flawless—until the third installment failed to live up to its predecessors, leaving a blemish on its legacy.
What went wrong? Nepotism.
Francis Ford Coppola cast his daughter, Sofia, as Mary Corleone, and her performance was both flat and overacted at the same time, making it difficult to take her seriously.
Fortunately, she soon realized acting wasn’t her calling and found success behind the camera instead.

Josh Hartnett
Hartnett was a heartthrob for younger female audiences in the late 1990s and 2000s, but his acting skills never quite matched his popularity.
It wasn’t for lack of opportunity—he starred in box office hits like Sin City and Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor, yet failed to leave a lasting impact.
When he took the lead, the results were even less impressive, with both audiences and critics giving his performances low marks.
His TV series Valley of the Gods reflected this trend, earning a disappointing 4.6/10 on IMDb.

Taylor Lautner
Some defended Lautner’s performance in the Twilight franchise, blaming the weak source material rather than his acting.
But then came the action film Tracers and the family drama Run the Tide, and the results spoke for themselves—Lautner still failed to impress.
Run the Tide scored a dismal 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, while Tracers managed only 23%.
This made it clear that the issue wasn’t the genre or the script—it was Lautner’s acting ability, or lack thereof.

Elizabeth Berkley
Sometimes, one bad performance can derail a career. For Berkley, that moment came with her frantic, over-the-top portrayal in Paul Verhoeven’s Showgirls.
Verhoeven’s films aren’t exactly known for their emotional depth, but even so, Berkley failed to make a lasting mark.
Hoping to transition into more serious roles after Saved by the Bell, she instead found herself earning a Golden Raspberry for Worst Actress—hardly the big break she was looking for.

Steven Seagal
Action movies don’t demand deep emotional range or award-worthy acting, yet Seagal’s films still struggle with reviews.
Half Past Dead earned just 37%, and On Deadly Ground managed 34% with Rotten Tomatoes audiences.
Critics, however, were far less forgiving—Half Past Dead received a dismal 3%, while On Deadly Ground scored only 12%.
Despite being nominated three times for a Golden Raspberry, Seagal has yet to take home a Razzie—though his filmography suggests it’s only a matter of time.

Kirk Cameron
Cameron isn’t a household name, and his track record might explain why. His films rarely earn favorable reviews.
Left Behind II: Tribulation Force holds a modest 4.8/10 on IMDb, while Extraordinary fares even worse at 3.4.
But it was one particularly disastrous performance that put him in the spotlight—Saving Christmas.
With a dismal 1.3/10 on IMDb, the film earned Cameron a Golden Raspberry for Worst Actor, thanks to his mismatched and overly dramatic performance in a Christmas movie.

Rob Schneider
Schneider has enjoyed a career spanning over 30 years, but that doesn’t mean he’s a great actor.
His films are lighthearted and don’t demand much emotional depth, yet his brand of slapstick comedy often falls flat.
The Animal earned just 4.8/10 on IMDb and a 30% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
While Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo managed average ratings, its sequel, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, sank his reputation even further.

Drew Barrymore
Many might be surprised, but Barrymore isn’t considered one of Hollywood’s finest actresses.
Her film career began in 1982 with E.T., but nepotism may have played a role—after all, director Steven Spielberg is her godfather.
Barrymore faced criticism for her performance in Never Been Kissed, the film that earned her two Golden Raspberry nominations.
However, it wasn’t just that film—both Poison Ivy and Duplex also received poor ratings from audiences and critics alike.

Hilary Duff
Disney has launched many talented stars, but when those actors step out on their own, the studio might be turning a blind eye to their actual abilities.
Hilary Duff found success in music and television, largely thanks to Disney.
However, when she ventured into film with projects like Material Girls, she didn’t earn critical acclaim—just Golden Raspberry nominations.

Angelina Jolie
It may be surprising to see Angelina Jolie on this list, but despite starring in box-office hits like Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Maleficent, her performances often lack range, with only a handful of facial expressions.
Her highly anticipated film The Tourist received disappointing reviews—just 21% from critics and 42% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, even with Johnny Depp as her co-star.
While many will defend her, Jolie is one of only five actresses to have received four Golden Raspberry nominations.

Owen Wilson
Some actors have careers that span decades, like Owen Wilson.
He’s not necessarily a bad actor—the issue is that he doesn’t really act.
Wilson’s mannerisms, speech patterns, and personality remain the same in every role, whether it’s Wedding Crashers, Zoolander, or You, Me, and Dupree.
Fortunately for him, his on-screen persona is likable enough to avoid Razzie nominations, though his films often receive only mediocre ratings.

Katie Holmes
Batman Begins couldn’t save Katie Holmes from being labeled one of the worst actresses.
Christopher Nolan wanted her to return for the sequel, but many viewers were relieved when she didn’t.
Holmes starred in Mad Money (5.8/10) and The Romantics (5.0/10) on IMDb, while her more recent films, like Alone Together (5.2/10), failed to impress.
Meanwhile, Brahms: The Boy II and The Secret: Dare to Dream earned her Razzie nominations.

Tara Reid
Things were looking up for Tara Reid in the early 2000s with American Pie and her role on Scrubs.
But then came Incubus and Unnatural Causes, and her career took a downturn.
Reid’s downfall may be due to her tendency to accept almost any role—Sharknado being a prime example.
Even after the first, she didn’t stop.
The Sharknado franchise spawned five sequels, and Reid took the lead female role in every single one.

Tyler Perry
Tyler Perry has built a name for himself, but his success isn’t rooted in raw acting talent.
Instead, sheer hard work and dedication propelled him forward.
While his Madea franchise boasts an impressive 11 films, critics haven’t been kind.
Perry has earned two Golden Raspberry nominations for Worst Actress (in drag) and another for Worst Actor, thanks to Alex Cross and Good Deeds.

Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s turn as Mr. Freeze in Batman & Robin is widely considered one of the worst performances in film history.
While the movie itself was a disaster that may have stalled Chris O’Donnell’s career, Schwarzenegger’s acting woes extend beyond Gotham.
He has earned multiple Golden Raspberry nominations, including for Conan the Barbarian and Last Action Hero, followed by two more for End of Days and The Sixth Day.

Jennifer Love Hewitt
Jennifer Love Hewitt may have found a place on television with The Client List, but her film career has struggled to gain traction with audiences and critics alike.
Even her most well-known movies have failed to achieve solid ratings.
I Know What You Did Last Summer barely managed 44% from critics and 40% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, while its sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, fared even worse with a 7% critic score and 29% from viewers.
Meanwhile, The Client List TV series holds a modest 6.5/10 on IMDb.

Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow may have won an Oscar for Shakespeare in Love, but that hasn’t shielded her from criticism regarding her acting abilities.
Her performance in Mortdecai earned her a Golden Raspberry nomination in 2015, while films like Country Strong (2010) and The Good Night (2007) struggled to impress critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
Though she has appeared in successful films, such as the Avengers franchise, those tend to be supporting roles rather than lead performances.

Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage has his defenders, with some considering him a legendary actor.
While he excelled in roles requiring eccentric performances, such as Wild at Heart and Leaving Las Vegas, his range has often been questioned.
Between 2006 and 2015, Cage received five Razzie nominations for Worst Actor, with films like Season of the Witch and the infamous The Wicker Man standing out as low points in his career.

Shaquille O’Neal
Shaquille O’Neal is a basketball legend, but his transition to acting has been far less successful.
Ranked 24th on IMDb’s list of worst actors, his 1997 film Steel made it clear that Hollywood wasn’t his calling.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie scored a mere 12% with critics and 19% with audiences, cementing O’Neal’s reputation as an athlete who should have stuck to the court.

Adam Sandler
Adam Sandler has managed an infamous acting feat—winning both Worst Actor and Worst Actress at the Razzies for his dual role in Jack and Jill.
The film holds the record for the most Razzie wins in history, further cementing Sandler’s reputation for hit-or-miss comedies.
With 12 Golden Raspberry nominations to his name, he sits in second place for the most nods, thanks to films like Little Nicky, Hubie Halloween, and Blended.

David Caruso
David Caruso’s portrayal of Lieutenant Horatio “H” Caine in CSI: Miami became iconic—but not for the right reasons.
His exaggerated mannerisms and overly dramatic delivery turned him into an internet meme rather than a respected dramatic actor.
His film career didn’t fare much better. Jade flopped with 13% from critics and 28% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
Even Proof of Life, despite starring Meg Ryan and Russell Crowe, failed to impress.

Katherine Heigl
Since Grey’s Anatomy and Knocked Up, Katherine Heigl has struggled to win over audiences.
Post-Grey’s, she starred in Killers, Home Sweet Hell, and One for the Money—none of which managed to score above 6/10 on IMDb.
While Hollywood may have overlooked her, the Golden Raspberry Awards took notice.
Heigl has earned three Razzie nominations for Worst Actress for her performances in Unforgettable, One for the Money, and Home Sweet Hell.

Pamela Anderson
Pamela Anderson was never cast for her acting skills, and it’s no secret.
Her roles in Baywatch and Barb Wire highlighted other attributes, but as the lead in Barb Wire, she couldn’t escape the film’s poor reception.
It scored just 3.4/10 on IMDb, while Rotten Tomatoes audiences were even harsher, giving it 14%.
The film’s failure earned Anderson a Razzie nomination that year.

Alicia Silverstone
Silverstone’s career showed promise in the early to mid-1990s.
She delivered decent performances in Clueless and The Crush, which earned fair ratings, but not overwhelming praise.
However, her later films received increasingly poor reviews.
Recent productions like Sister of the Groom (2020) scored 4.6/10, while Last Survivors (2021) managed 4.8/10 on IMDb.
Though Clueless is a teen classic, Silverstone didn’t showcase much emotional range, and since then, she has struggled to deliver standout performances.
